I just found out that my homegirl from the MIA-YO, Miss Juice is interested in getting her own TV show on Oprah’s new TV network. (Oprah has a TV Network? I guess so). Miss Juice aka Carla Webstar shot this video and posted it online. I wanted to share with my Blog readers. I think it’s a great concept, and with all the garbage that’s on TV right now, something that encourages people to be healthy and read sounds great too me.

Here’s the skinny:

“Cooking the Book” is a show that interviews and chats with authors, audience and chefs about the best ingredients of 2 worlds – reading and cooking. During each show, our host, Carla Webster, will interview authors who include food and meals w/in their stories. We will explore the magic of food, the memories evoked and moods that are written into each book and storyline. Most of us treat the meals in stories as background action. But when you really delve into the words within the context of the story, there is a bonus layer of flavor that’s dying to be tasted! I’ve found that the right meal at the right time can make all the difference in the world. Whether you’re a comfort eater or a health nut, food is necessary for survival and satisfaction. This show is meant to inspire you to think of eating in a completely different way. My goal is to merge my love of story sharing and great conversation with my love for food- Because both are nourishing to the soul.

Recently StaHHr took a trip to Wesleyan University in Connecticut to speak to the students. While she was there, John Robinson, and Homeboy Sandman joined her for a freestyle cipher for the students. Check it out in 2 parts. There’s a 3rd video floating around out there too.

I’m extremely proud to be apart of this project that was released on Fathers Day. The homie AJ reached out and told me he was putting together a project for the youth to listen too. Full of daily affirmations and positive messages for the kids to hear. He said if you have to leave the kids with a message, and only had a minute or so to do it, what would you say? I was totally down soon as I heard the idea, and I had no idea this would blossom into a project with over 70 features.

Father’s Day is a day for reverence for our father figures, and Hip-Hop, as a whole does not pay its respects to all of the good fathers in our community. Producers and Fathers Metaphysic and Amond Jackson have put together a hip-hop tribute to all Fathers and the relationship they share with their children. The project entitled “Soil: The Warrior Lessons” pulls together uncompromising people from the hip-hop community sharing wisdom for our kids over Amond’s and Metaphysic’s beats with special guests producers. Hip Hop notables like J-Live, DJ Applejack, Floyd the Locsmif, Illastrate, M1 of Dead Prez, Homeboy Sandman, Supa Dave West, John Robinson, DJ Amdex and many others will speak to their seeds and share the feelings and information they need to know. This project should be the soundtrack to your Father’s Day and provide encouragement for you and your young ones.

“Soil” is everything a parent provides for their children or “seeds.” Metaphysic describes the project’s title in this way: “Just like in nature our children, our “seeds” can’t grow alone once planted. They need the proper care in order to flourish. The soil is the nourishment parents must provide in order for our youth to grow strong roots and flourish. With the right soil our youth can properly develop into productive, self reliant and creative contributors to the human family.” Amond and Meta intend for this project to be a gift for Fathers to share with their children to provide alternative perspectives from mainstream music and media. This project also serves as a time capsule that generations in the future can listen to and see what these group of fathers and fathers-to-be had on their minds.

The sense of community among fathers is a major theme for this project. Amond and Meta have brought together many different voices in hip-hop; DJs, MCs, B-Boys, Producers, Writers, Videographers, and Freedom Fighters have all contributed to this inspirational instrumental project. The music will be free, so listeners can expect to hear a wide range of vibes and sounds. “Soil: The Warrior Lessons” will be a free download available Father’s Day June 20, 2010.

Summer is officially here, and you tell by the new heat that’s dropping all over the Internet.

When Slaughterhouse was in ATL I interviewed them, and asked if they had been working with Em. And everybody was super tight lipped about it. Looks like they have been working with Em, and here’s a new joint that leaked today.
