This past Wednesday I got a chance to catch a sneak peek for the new Nike Store opening this weekend in Lenox Mall in Atlanta, GA.
The store simply entitled the “Nike Store” is set to change the game for brand interaction. “Athletes serving Athletes,” is the motto. The store manager is called the “Head Coach,” the managers are called “Coaches,” and the associates are called “Athletes.”
The first thing you notice as you walk in, is this huge wall with projector blasting onto it. It gives you the feeling as if your walking threw the tunnel of a stadium getting ready to hit the field. And once inside almost everything you would need for the field is available. The Nike Luna Racer (Nike’s lightest running shoe) that we told you about a few months back will be available at this location. The Nike Store is similar to the Nike Sportswear (NSW) store in New York in the way it’s designed with the basketball hardwood style floors and heavy sports environment. There’s also basketball gear, running gear, and training gear for the sports lovers. Just being in the store makes a brotha want to start working out.
Once halfway to the back of the store in when the spidy senses start tingling. Why? Well.. for the first time ever Atlanta now has a Nike I.D. Studio in our backyard. Wait… some of you may not understand how BIG that is. There are only 3 locations in the U.S. / Only 5 in the world that have a Nike I.D. Studio. New York, Beaverton (Nike HQ), and now ATL!!!
Sneaker Heads now have to the chance to customize your own pair of Nike Air Max 95’s, Air Max 90’s, Dunks, etc in various colorways that were never produced by Nike. We’ll talk more about that later…
There’s more to this store than just the Nike product. There’s 3 things in this store, that I’ve never seen in a retail store / boutique before that I want to talk about. This is how Nike has once again stepped the game up!
1. Athlete Central. In the middle of the store is a station with 2 Mac’s where you can look up and purchase anything that Nike has available in it’s warehouse at the moment, it’s called “Athlete Central.” Lets say you get to the store, and you REALLY wan’t those Hyperdunks in the Laker Colorway, but they just sold out of the last size 10, you can go online and order them in the store and have them shipped to your house! It’s also is set up to answer any Nike questions you may have. WOW.
2. Game Changers. Is the community influenced section of the store. This is where you will be able to find information on what Nike is doing in the Atlanta community. Information on the launch of Run Club – which will take place weekly starting November 4th, where you can sign up to run 3 miles, 5 miles, or 7 miles with other local runners as well as Olympian Angelo Taylor on 11.4. There’s also great information for the youth to get involved with Nike. Kids are encouraged to share their “Game Changing” ideas. I must say I’ve NEVER seen anything like this in a store before. —
“GAMECHANGERS, the new community grant program empowers youth to develop ideas that make the world a better place through sport. Youth will submit their ideas to use sport as a tool for social change and become the GAMECHANGERS. Consumer ideas will also be placed in a drawing for the chance to win $1000 in sports equipment to support their school.” – Nike – Check out Nike Gamechangers for more info
Speaking of Atlanta Gamechangers. I caught up with Epidemik Coalition’s own Larry Luk.
3. Nike I.D. Studio. I spoke a little earlier how you can customize your own pair of kicks. You can also customize a Nike T-Shirt. There’s several Nike vintage logo templates you can choose from, and you can put the swoosh just about anywhere on a shirt you want. You can also add your name to make the shirt more personal. I got the chance to make the one of one Nike Air x Señor Kaos T-Shirts in the GO METS color way. check it out below.
Big Thank You goes to Nate who hooked up this shirt for me. Thanks for your patience.
OH I FORGOT TO MENTION I GOT THE CHANCE TO HIT THE NIKE I.D. STUDIO AND CUSTOMIZE “THE KAOS LIVE 95′S.” These are the Señor Kaos x The Kaos Effect Nike Air Max 95’s I created.
